 We were caught napping by onslaught that Market Drayton’s very speedy backs unleashed on us right from the kick-off.  They had posted 5 tries and 3 conversions (31 points) by the interval and in reply we’d only mustered a couple of Mark Large penalties. The team was showing a number of enforced changes and it took until mid way through the first half before we began to gain parity in the forwards, both at the set pieces and around the park, which increasingly stifled the ball supply to the opposition backs.  The game was effectively over by half time but the tenacity and determination of the forwards and a re-organised defence in the backs meant that the second half was confined to a forward’s scrap in between the 22’s.  We had a couple of sniffs at their line and more importantly managed to deny the visitors any more scores until they grabbed a converted try right on the final whistle.
