Eccleshall vs Aldridge
Not the best of afternoons. Through defensive naivety, we gifted a try in the opening minutes and never really recovered. We were competitive in the tight and line outs and were getting to the breakdowns but apart from a few sparks from “Barney”, at the back we had a fruitless afternoon so opportunities were squandered. “Forest” was having a stormer and losing him through injury didn’t help matters but we didn’t appear to possess any means to get the ball up to the oppositions line that meant only rarely did we ever give them any anxiety. It took us far too long to realise that the answer lay in the forwards. It was well into the second half when we switched to a more forward orientated game and managed at last to gather some momentum. This produced a platform for Stu Wright to drive over but by then the opposition had their fifteen points on the board and were never going to relinquish.
