 Evesham Vs Aldridge

Our glorious cup run finally came to a halt when we visited high-flying Evesham in the semi-finals of the NM Junior vase competition last Saturday.  It was always going to be a big call - on a hot day and a hard pitch – with the home side Evesham already having earned promotion from the division above us – but we weren’t overawed and put up a determined display throughout.  We certainly had at least parity in the forwards, both in the tight and line outs, but the home side’s pacey back line had the ability to test our defence whenever they were given possession.  That we were only 12 – 0 down (two tries, one conversion) at half time was a compliment to our determination but then both centres, Ben Pittam and Anthony Jaep and lock Eddie O’Neill came off injured, which changed the whole pattern of the match.  The game became increasingly fragmented in the second half and although we never dropped our heads, the re-jigged team was vulnerable to the speed of the home side’s three-quarters.  Three more tries, two converted, were added to their tally.  We had a good spell towards the end though – could have crossed, perhaps should have taken the shot at goal, but it would have only been consolation.   Final score: - Evesham 31 pts – Aldridge 0 pts.

 That’s all folks.  Il y’en a plus as they say.  Have a good summer and continue with your punishing fitness regimes because pre-season training will be upon you sooner than you think.

And another thing (2) – it is rumoured that the end of season disco has been cancelled through lack of numbers.  Check with your local information bureau.
