Aldridge XV 40 pts - Harborne 2nds 0 pts
An eclectic mix of first and second teamers comfortably defeated Harborne 2’s in Saturday’s club friendly. We made a dynamic start with the forwards following up the kick off and driving the ball powerfully up field. A slick three-quarter movement put “Forrest” over mid-way out. Mark Large duly added the extras and we were firmly in the driving seat after just 3 minutes. It was more of the same from then on. The scoreboard was kept steadily ticking over and at no time was our line seriously threatened. It was a competitive game though, played in good spirit with the opposition battling to the end. The final tally was six tries and five conversions with some solid performances from the second team contingent. Trevor Lowe had an outstanding game at flanker – putting himself about the park, pulling off some strong tackles and scoring a great individual try from out deep. Dan Woodward gave a powerful performance at lock and last but certainly not least, mention must be made of young Rees Manders who on his debut appearance was attributed with the touch down following a push-over. No doubt a sterner test awaits us at next Saturday’s league encounter with Five Ways.
