Rugby Match Report - Club Match
17 April 2010
Rugeley 2nds 10 pts Vs Aldridge 2nds 33 pts
This was not a bad performance considering the warm weather and that, as kick-off time approached; we were still scrabbling for numbers. Still it all turned out ok in the end. It was sorted out early-on that the best tactic was a hefty kick up-field followed by some energetic chasing. This produced serious panic in the opposition defence who were found wanting under Nick Raybould’s aerial bombardment which led directly or indirectly to all of the first half tries which came, chronologically, from Eddie O’Neil, Trevor Lowe, Lennie Jaep (of course) and Sean Campbell. Rugeley looked a bit shell shocked at this stage but they rallied and hit back with two of their own. The score was 26 to 10 to us at the break and the second-half turned out to be a more even tussle resulting in us having to wait right until the end, to add to our score line. It was the best of a good crop though, which started with a searing charge off the back of a line-out by Lennie Jaep, which took him to within touching distance of the line. As he was stopped, a slick off-load put a rapidly following up “Tank” Lowe over between the sticks. Nick Raybould converted four of our five tries. Adam Reed shone in the attack, defence and lineout departments and unanimously got the MotM award. Mike Fullard again marshalled things efficiently at scrum half and Greg Raybould gave a sparkling performance at full-back. It might be tougher next week!

AGM
Please note that the AGM will be held at Veseyans Club House at 7:30 on May 6th.
This is a Thursday, not the Wednesday of our usual AGM.
There are some important updates you will need to hear at the meeting regarding
the state of the club house re-build, and we are also proposing to Incorporate
the Club, creating a company called Aldridge RFC Ltd that will take the legal
responsibility for running the Club. This is a strong recommendation from the
RFU and is a condition of them providing us with support. In practical terms the
Club will continue to run as usual, with a Committee responsible for day-to-day
management. More information about this proposal will be provided at the AGM.
Please note that only fully paid up members will be able to vote.
