Spartans vs. Aldridge
A game of two halves. A good solid performance in the first then we ran out of steam in the second. A bit like England really. Despite conceding an early try we came back strongly and after some good forward driving took the lead with a Jim Arnold try between the posts and a conversion from Ashley Shingler. We clung onto the lead until the half-hour when Spartans crossed again to give them a 10 – 7 lead at half time. We’d stuck to the task well up to this point. The pack was a lot more solid than of late with Jim having a competent first outing at No8 and Ashley an authoritative debut at No10. Unfortunately we didn’t carry this over into the second half. The home side, who are having a good season, upped their game and we failed to match the increase in pace allowing them acres of space which was efficiently exploited as the game progressed.
