Rugby Match Report - League Match Midlands 5 West (North)
27th March 2010
Aldridge 64 points vs Wheaton Aston 8 points
The score says it all. This was a one-sided try harvest where we had complete control of all aspects of the play throughout and towards the end of the first half were virtually scoring at will. We’d got 50 points on the board at the break and to be picky, the final tally should have been far higher but it’s difficult to keep the foot on the gas with that score under your belt (or of course it may have just been compassion?). There were ten tries in all ,- too many to mention individually except that Lennie Jaep grabbed a hat trick, each in typical fashion - driving over off the back row from close quarters. We left the door a little too ajar in the second half, which allowed the visitors to re-group and help themselves to a consolation try and a penalty.
As well as being an overwhelming team performance where we played some good attacking rugby, there were many fine individual efforts also. The backs were full of enterprise and the forwards put themselves about the park with Eddie and “Forrest” leading the rush.
