Rugby is back ! !

Jon Arch4 Dec 2020 - 09:13

RFU and Government move Rugby into Stage E of their return to rugby roadmap allowing for adapted contact games and training to return.

We have a proper rugby fixture arranged... over 9 months since our last game we will be travelling to meet Veseyans in a friendly social Christmas Cracker on the 19th December 2020.

We are currently in the process of arranging localised friendlies for January before we start the RFU Cluster League games we believe in February.

We are due to meet Edwardians RFC, Harborne RFC, Veseyans RFC, and Burntwood RFC in the cluster league, so some great local highly competitive rugby for our 1st and 2nd XV's.

Training numbers have remained superb over the lockdown period since we returned at the end of June, some sessions have had over 40 players in attendance, including a number of new faces. I want to thank every single one of the 65 different players who have attended a training session for their efforts.

Head Coach Jon Arch, " I know for some, including myself, rugby has been an escape from the challenges of this year so I am really excited for the players for them to be able to get back playing; the work they have put in over the past 6 months has been superb and the improvements in with some players skill sets will be noticeable.

We have a number of new young players join us, some will need time to develop their rugby knowledge, but a couple of the others will be pushing for 1st XV rugby right from the start. With the league season being cancelled it gives us the chance for us to develop these players and also understand the challenges and physicality of Mids 3 rugby with no pressure."
