Head Coach Jon Arch commented...
"It is really pleasing to be able to look forward to rugby again. Lockdown 1 was tough, as was lockdown 2, but i think this last one has been the hardest. Our last proper game of rugby was a North Midlands Cup Semi-Final victory over Old Yards, its been over a year, and i know they guys have missed rugby - I have missed it so much myself. Just being away from the club has hurt a lot of these players; they have missed their friends, they have missed the banter, rugby is their second family !

Even during lockdown the guys have been keeping themselves fit, many they have their own running and cycling challenges going on, others have been working on specific skill development. We have done a few Zoom calls over the past few weeks with the players and have provided as much support as we could over this lockdown. I wanted to fully understand what the players wanted from the club when we were able to get back to training… Our focus is just about Rugby and Fun when we get back, we want to put the smiles back on faces

We have started to develop a roadmap for next season; of who we are and how we are going to play; we are looking to further develop a player leadership team which covers not just the 1st XV. We started to develop this in the training we were able to get done after Lockdown 1, player led sessions, player led debriefs… lots of voices all supporting and challenging each other.

Hopefully as long as the exit roadmap stays as it is we can really look forward to actually playing some rugby albeit with the slightly adapted law variants. Tony (Fixture Secretary) has got us some great fixtures against some clubs not only in our league next season but more importantly clubs who we get on well with - they like us will be hoping for lots of fun and smiles on faces - for us the results are irrelevant - it just about playing rugby with your mates, your rugby family!"
