We were unceremoniously bundled out of the RFU Junior Vase competition on our visit to Long Eaton last Saturday. Our patched up side, missing a number of regulars through injuries and non-availabilities, was never able to match a well-drilled and efficient home side, who play in a division higher than us. No need to look further than the score line to know what type of afternoon we had – Long Eaton increasingly gained momentum as the game progressed and had posted nine tries, three conversions and a penalty by the end to our solitary Ashley Shingler penalty in reply - although we did keep going and battled through to the final whistle.
It's probably wise to quickly draw a veil over the proceedings and re-gather our thoughts for next week.
