Aldridge seemed to be suffering from a first half hangover as they conceded 3 first half tries to the visitors. Most of these were the result of lazy tackles , and it took until the end of the first half for Aldridge to begin to assert themselves.
Alex Yates had started well for Aldridge with a penalty to take a 3-0 lead, but then two converted tries , a penalty and another converted try left the homes side already with little hope of victory. A very late try from leading try scorer prop Eddie O'Neill converted by Alex Yates gave some hope of respectability.
How different was the second half! Again Aldridge started slowly conceding two penalties but then the forwards began to assert themselves and drove Yardley back well. Dan McKenna scored a well taken try converted by Alex Yates. Aldridge were definitely the side with impetus at this stage and scored again, Daniel Lastun's try converted by Alex Yates. But they had run out of time and ended up losing 24 - 30 to a side in a league above.
Lee Stokes was man of the match for his non-stop tackling and ball winning.
Next week Aldridge play Barbarians in the first league fixture of the year.
