Aldridge began the game in a sloppy manner conceding penalties, kicking straight to touch and being penalised in the scrum.
Playing against the conditions they improved dramatically after a try from the impressive Dan McKenna. The team seemed galvanised by this excellent try and went on to score three more tries in the first half scored by Adam Reed, Matt O'Hare and Harry Baldock. Just before the interval they led by 26 - 3 and the game looked over.
But, as could be expected from a team in a league higher then Aldridge, Redditch came back fighting. They scored a try on the stroke of half time and then another straight after the interval. Aldridge were forced to dig deep and a superb forward drive led to a try for Lea Ross, well deserved for the efforts of the home side forwards, with Eddie O'Neill and Alex Reed leading some ferocious charges, but also for another exemplary performance from Lea.
Still Redditch were not finished. They scored another try late in the game but they had been undone by a super try from Adam Reed converted by Harry Baldock.
This was a superb display from Aldridge who can certainly play some flowing rugby when they put their minds to it.
Progress to the semi-finals of the Plate was well deserved. Special congratulations to Luke Russell who had a storming game at prop and was the deserved Man of the Match.
