Aldridge made very heavy work of defeating a game Market Drayton side on Saturday.
The match was punctuated by errors from both sides, mainly handling errors that made it difficult to hold onto the ball.
Playing with the elements Aldridge started the better and scored a try from Edward O'Neill after 5 minutes. Things were looking promising at this stage but some stout defence and some poor handling meant it was difficult for the home side to capitalise on their early ascendancy.
A penalty from Alex Yates was all the reward they could muster. Turning around at 8 - 0 to play against the wind and slope meant 40 minutes of effort trying to repulse the inevitable onslaught from the visitors.
It didn't take too long before Market Drayon were on the board with a well taken try from a nice move. Dewi Griffiths touched down and Alex Gammon slotted the conversion to make the score 8 - 7.
A beautifully taken drop goal from Alex Gammon gave the visitors a narrow lead, which they extended with a penalty for offside. With the score now 8 - 13 it was starting to look ominous for Aldridge, but it was at this moment that they showed their mettle with several good runs from their impressive centres, Ben Pittam and Chris Balmforth. From yet another foray into the visitors' half Adam Reed scored a superb try, converted by Alex Yates to give the home side a narrow lead that they managed to hang onto until the end of the game.
