Following cup defeats away in recent weeks Aldridge bounced back to win away in the league against Birmingham Exiles

Aldridge began the game well with their forwards achieving some early domination. After only 8 minutes a training ground move saw Alex Yates score in the corner for the opening try, which he then converted magnificently. 0 -7. Amazingly the same move saw the same result shortly afterwards with Alex Yates again scoring in the same place with the successful conversion to follow. 0 -14. The link between the backs, Gareth Bott,, Ben Pittam and Russell Bradley was causing chaos in Exiles' defence. At this point the visitors were looking strong and it came as no surprise when another try was scores this time on the left wing by Nick Yates. 0 - 19.
The home side still harboured hopes of a comeback and so it proved with a determined sequence of moves that led to a try for James Buckley converted by Andrew Perkins. 7-1 9. The game then became much more of a contest, and with the gusty wind disturbing the line-out, the home side had their fair share of possession. The strength of the Aldridge pack and their quick wittedness allowed Adam Baldock to score an excellent try from 5 metres out just on half time. A demoralising moment for the home side, but a bonus point secured on the stroke of half time for Aldridge. Half time score 7 - 26.
The second half began with similar Aldridge domination. Alex Yates completed a hat trick of tries with another try in the corner. 7 - 31. The wingers had now scored 4 tries between them. Quick thinking from scrum half Lea Ross gave the visitors another try when the ball was bobbling around the in-goal area. 7 - 36, and Adam Baldock went in for a second shortly afterwards to make the score 7 - 41.
To their credit the home side never let their heads drop and on 75 minutes they had their reward when, following a series of penalties, Nick Strong went over for a try. 12 - 41.
Aldridge added their final try through yet another wrecking ball move from Adam Baldock which left the final score at 12 - 46.
A convincing win for the league leaders.
