Aldridge faced Kings Norton in the league for the first time ever. The game began with Aldridge taking an early lead through a superb backs move that led to an excellent try for Greg Raybould. The conversion was kicked by Alex Yates to make the score 7 - 0. At that time it looked as if Aldridge were in for a straightforward win, but the visitors then moved up a gear and began to employ their greatest strength - their forwards. Kings Norton were comfortable in the scrums and dominant in the loose giving them both possession and territory. It came as no surprise when, following a sustained attack on Aldridge's line, they went over for a try from a rolling maul. 7 - 5.
Shortly afterwards Aldridge drifted offside in a dangerous position to present the visitors with the opportunity of kicking a penalty to take the lead. 7 - 8
Aldridge then rallied and started to use their powerful backs. Alex Yates went over for a try to re-take the lead. This left the half-time score 12 - 8.
The visitors failed to capitalise on the advantage of the elements in the second half, allowing Aldridge to score two tries through Dan McKenna and Ben Pittam, the last converted by Alex Yates, to leave the score 24 - 8. Aldridge had secured the important try bonus point and victory looked secure. But then the visitors came back really well scoring a try to make the score 24-13 and then late in the game they scored a third try to give them a losing bonus point and to leave the final score 24 - 18.
An excellent game played in great spirit by both sides.
The victory leaves Aldridge still riding high at the top of the league.
