Aldridge RFC make the short trip to meet Cannock RFC this saturday. Cannock RFC came down from Midlands 3 West North last season and lost narrowly to Warley RFC last week 15 - 10.
Head Coach Jon Arch
"There are no easy games in this league, and despite Cannocks indifferent start to the season we will treat them with equal respect were they top of the league. We know they have a couple of ex-Veseyans lads and have a couple of big second row units - so we are expecting a very tough physical battle.
It's really difficult to change a side which is winning but we know that Alex Yates is out with his hamstring injury which caused him to come off after just 7 minutes on saturday and centre Ryan Bowan is unavailable, (Ed. We have also now lost Adam Butler & Ben Giles from the squad). However we have Adam Morris and Brad Russell (who missed out last week with a bug) back available, but the game comes a week too soon for Josh Atkins to be considered. Our back line looked very good last week, and with Adam Reed, Harry, and Dan McKenna we have three guys who are capable of creating a try from nothing. Last week we executed out wide really well which was something we have focused on in training.
Jordan Russell put down a marker in the 2's narrow defeat to a strong Bournville 3's side last week, and Ben Eden has been ripping it up whilst learning his new position in the back row, so they are in with a shout of a recall; that said I expect us to start with very much the same side which started against Birmingham Exiles. Last season we cried out for consistency of selection and availability - this season we are able to keep units working together and the results have really improved, but it is tough on the lads on the fringes of the starting XV, but its great they are coming on and making a positive impact in the game, and its great that they want to prove a point.
We are honestly taking each game as it comes, we just want to keep winning and keep playing entertaining rugby."
