Twelve tries in some terrible conditions as Aldridge secure bonus point win

Twelve tries and total domination for Aldridge on a very wet and windy afternoon at Bourne Vale.

Playing against the wind rain and the slope Aldridge put in a superb half of rugby to lead 29 - 10 at half time. Tries came from wingers Ben Eden, Brad Russell, and Nick Yates (who replaced Ben Eden after some skullduggery from the large Essington second row resulted in a knock to his knee), plus tries for Adam Butler who was superb and "Thunder" Josh Reynolds who scored from a training ground lineout move.

The second half was much the same, the forwards won the ball, dominating in both scrum and lineout and the tries flowed; James Turner (2), Dan McKenna, Lea Ross, Ben Drinkwater and a try for the Baby Rhino Neil Smith who powered over from 22 yards after stepping their full back and centre...

Final Score 66 - 17 doesn't really do the performance justice; the handling in the backs was simply sublime at times and the forwards domination at both scrum and lineout was flawless.

Head Coach Jon Arch:

"Before the game, I asked the guys to simply do their jobs; and they did - every single one of them. We used the bench aggressively right from the 25th minute as we knew that when we played to our pace with our intensity they wouldn't be able to cope.

It would be easy to sing the praises of the back line, their handling was amazing but to me the stars today were the forwards. The lineout was superb in tricky conditions - 100% on our throw, and stole or disrupted all but one of theirs; it gave us the platform to attack with confidence. Massive shout out to Tony Harbutt who is matching his scrum power with tackles, carries and turnovers, and Liam Burlace, he was asked to bring a physical presence - he punched big holes today. Against them earlier in the season our back row came off second best - not today, Big Ben, Butler and Thunder were simply awesome.

8 tries by the backs is a great result in those conditions; Dan Mac looked very good at 15 and the position didn't stifle his ability to carry the ball. Nick Yates finished two great tries - that is his strength, and i know Sir Adam didnt like it, but that Centre parternship of him and James Turner is Midlands Pram level in my opinion.

We start again on tuesday with our preparation for this weeks tough game against Market Drayton. Its a massive week at the top of the league, Clee Hill (1st) host Barton (3rd) and Market Drayton (4th) host Us (2nd) - we just keep taking each game as it comes and keep working for the win."
