This was the result that has been coming. Since the start of the season Aldridge seem to have lost players by the week, mainly through injury but also through unavailability.
On Saturday against a very strong, well organised and purposeful Stourport side Aldridge had no answer. We were comfortably beaten in almost every aspect of the game but it was our defence, previously such a strong area, that let us down badly. Poor organisation and missed tackles gifted tries to our hosts.
Not to say that there wasn't some resistance. Alex Reed scored a good try on 38 minutes to reduce the deficit. This was converted by Alex Yates. A penalty straight after half time, again from Alex yates, gave us some hope of a comeback and when Stourport were reduced to 14 men following a yellow card things were looking good. Sadly at that moment our generosity came to the fore and Stourport were gifted three tries whilst they were numerically inferior. A late try from Jacob Holding, converted by Alex Yates, reduced to deficit but Stourport came back again to extend their lead to 45-15 before Alex Yates popped up with a late consolation try.
Mike Fullard and Lenny Jaep battled well, but there was ever going to be only outcome. Well done, Stourport.
