Even with a full complement this would still have been a difficult task versus league high flyers Telford. As it was, although it may not appear reflected in the score-line, the patched up side that made the trip gave a pretty good account of themselves. The forwards, biased more towards experience than youth, held parity in the set pieces and were belligerent in the loose exchanges which generally helped to keep the lid on things throughout. The opposition were much more of a handful when they had the opportunity to add width to their game and we did leak some soft tries as we ran out of cover defence but all-in-all we kept going and battled throughout to the conclusion. We did score a great try off a worked three-quarter’s move with Alex Yates being released through the centre and outpacing the opposition to the line. He also added the conversion but to put things in perspective, at the other end, in the first half, the home side scored four tries plus a conversion and three and a conversion in the second. Trevor Lowe playing at flanker made a major contribution and Lennie Jaep, Adam Reed, Dan McKenna and Ashley Lowe all get a mention in despatches.
