Aldridge defeat St Leonards

This was destined to be a closely fought game between the two form teams in the league. It turned out very differently thanks, in part, to an accident on the M6 which delayed the arrival of the away team. The game did eventually kick off late but Aldridge were very quickly into their stride. Adam reed was the first try followed by a superb try from Alex Reed, converted by Alex Yates. Aldridge continued to dominate as the unfortunate away side lost players through injury. The Aldridge pack was completely dominant but there were glimpses of the class that St Leonards did have from time to time, These were, however, punctuated by tries conceded from backs and forwards, from close range and from a distance. By half time Aldridge had scored four tries and a penalty to lead by 32 points to 5. Alex Yates converted the penalty and converted tries by Darren Gardner and a barnstorming effort from Dan McKenna.
The elements were with Aldridge in the first half and we expected St Leonards to come back in the second half, but Aldridge continued to dominate with some tough work up front and some sublime running from their backs. Two tries from Alex Yates, one of which was the climax to some excellent play and tries from Nick Yates, Harry Baldock and Chris Balmforth gave Aldridge an unlikely 57 - 5 final score. Harry Baldock was awarded the man of the match for his superb control of the game.
