Aldridge made up for their defeat earlier in the season to secure an important win against rivals Warley thus depriving the visitors of any chance of promotion this year.
The game began with Warley in the ascendancy, threatening the Aldridge line and playing some very good rugby. Aldridge's defence did well and succeeded in repelling the visitors.
It was not easy for Aldridge to gain control, but this they did, slowly but surely with Dan McKenna scoring a fine individual try from open play that was converted by Alex Yates to leave the half time score 7-0
Things looked tricky for the home side as they were playing in the second half against the conditions and Warley had every hope of coming back to secure the points they keenly wanted, especially after the home side lost wing Nick Yates to a yellow card for ten minutes. Warley scored a try by Marcus which was unconverted to leave the score at a precarious 7-5. Alex Yates then scored a penalty to stretch the lead to 10-5 and at this point Aldridge began to achieve domination, controlling possession and looking dangerous whenever they had the ball.
A fine move down the left wing saw full back Alex Yates score an excellent try that he converted himself to make the score a more comfortable 17-5. Minutes later another superb break from Aldridge saw Ben Drinkwater go over for an unconverted try. Chris Balmforth went over for an excellent try converted this time by stand-off Harry Baldock.
To their credit the visitors never gave up and tried to play good quality rugby, but injuries and scoreboard pressure began to tell and John Phipkin went over for a final try converted by the ever reliable Alex Yates to leave the final score 34-5.
Captain Ben Pittam was elated at the end describing it as his best day in rugby for years.
Dan McKenna was awarded the man of the match accolade for his barnstorming runs and a superb try.
Special mention must be made of coach Jeffrey Large, who, in his first year as coach, has secured the promotion that Aldridge have been seeking for so long.
Well done the team and the Club.
