Aldridge began the game fairly well with a smartly taken try by captain Ben Pittam. They then scored another quick try courtesy of a run from 50 metres for Dan McKenna, converted by Alex Yates. Alex then converted a penalty to give Aldridge a good lead, made better by a further try for Darren Gardner, again converted by Alex Yates. A certain amount of complacency overtook the visitors and Whittington profited with a fine try of their own from scrum half, Ian Carr. This left the score 22-5 at half time.
In the second half tries from Chris Balmforth, Harry Baldock and a lung-busting run from his own try line by Adam Reed secured a victory that looked much more secure than it was. Alex Yates scored a further two penalties and a conversion to leave the final score 5- 45. Aldridge will need to play much better next week against Stourport if they are to secure the promotion that is tantalisingly close.
